Great Britain, Columbia – Recent research conducted by the researchers of the British Columbia University has led to discoveries that blue whales comprise of nerves in their tongues which might be twice in length and akin to a bungee cord.
This discovery could, as per the study could probably assist scientists in their researches about the human nerve deficiency!
From the UBC’s Cellular as well as Physiological Science Department, Wayne Vogl commented that, “The tissue, the tongue or the overlying blubber and skin, when they expand, what happens is these nerves actually stretch like bungee cords,”
He also added by saying that the whales flexible nerve assists it to consume their quantity of food necessary for their existence. This is simply because the whales need to open their mouths deep and wide in order to allow huge quantity of food and water intake and then to throw the water out again.
Vogue also added that there has to be a lot of factors which differ in relation to their oral cavity as well as to their mouth and that the swallowing mechanism of the whales has to be different in comparison to the normal vertebrates.
The Nerves are situated around a joint or around an arrangement so that there are least possibilities of stretching. That’s where all the injury occurs to people as because the nerves do not have stretch that much and on breaking takes a great deal of time to grow back again!
Further studies suggests that whales have found a way to safe-guard their nerves in an undulated manner enclosed by the elastin fibers which permits the wave to stretch similar to that of a rubber and then shrink back again.
Experts have said that humans do not have such ability but on account of their future researches these experts believe they would be able to know more information as well as knowledge about human nerve repair.
