It has been just a month old, but the One M8 is already receiving updates from HTC. Earlier this week, HTC has released a minor update in Canada bumping the software version to 1.55.631.4, which brings a host of performance improvements to Camera and Gallery, but most importantly, brings the much awaited Extreme power saving mode to the users. The critically acclaimed HTC’s One M8 was supposed to come with an Extreme Power Saving mode during the release but due to Carrier restrictions and testing process, the phone was not shipped with it.
The Extreme power saving mode, when activated gives your phone the much needed boost in battery life. HTC claims that with just 5% battery left, your phone could eke out as much as 15 hours of battery life when this mode is active, which is astounding. Activating the power mode makes your homescreen replaced by a host of few icons which include Phone, messaging, Calendar and for some reason Calculator along with a big exit button to exit the mode. For people who travel a lot, this feature is shaping up to be boon.HTC One M8 receiving new update
Currently, Canada is getting the updates via the carriers and the US, Australia and rest of the world versions are supposed to follow suit soon. It is to be noted that even without the Extreme Power Saver mode, the battery performance of HTC is stellar thanks to the low power sensors and optimized software.
