In order to raise general awareness for the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, schools and businesses in Lewis County have been asked to “Paint the County Pink”. And according to the organizers at the Lewis County General Hospital, the business facility or school with the best pink painting will win prizes and a trophy and tickets to the October 21 seventh annual Breast Cancer Awareness Dinner in Lowville Elks Lodge.
Although all businesses and schools within the Lewis County area have been encouraged to paint the county pink, interested entities can pick up their participation forms at the Lewis County General Hospital’s website www.lcgh.net and call the hospital’s community relations office for more enquiries.
The theme for this year’s dinner is: PINK – Spread the Hope, Find the Cure. And entries from interested businesses and schools will still be on till September 19, and these entities among others should have set up their paints and decorations by October 6, during which time judges will move round to evaluate color themes and award marks. Participating entities will be judged based on their theme pink color, overall impression, detail to craftsmanship, and originality of creativity.
Participating churches, business offices, schools, and other organizations will be awarded winnings in three categories: corporations with over 50 staffs, businesses with lesser than 50 employees, and schools. And according to an oncology navigator at Lewis County General Hospital, “chances are breast cancer will touch your life at some point. Paint the County Pink is an inspiring and entertaining event to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
