New sources are reporting that Motorola will release a set of eight smartphones between now and Christmas. According to the source, Motorola is getting ready to bring DROID, the DROID Maxx, DROID Turbo, Moto X+1, Moto G2, Moto X Play, Moto S, and a new Nexus device to the horizon.
The source further elaborates that launch of some devices depends on the success of others. For example, if the Moto X+1 does well in the market, then the DROID Turbo will be introduced. Likewise, the Moto S and Moto X Play will replace each other depending on the market response. The source goes on by saying that AT&T will introduce DROID and DROID Turbo in USA with a different branding.
There is a good news for Star Wars fans as well. Star Wars: Episode VII is in the making, and the term ‘DROID’ is mentioned multiple times in the series. It is also expected that one of the devices from the bunch will be used for the promotion of the upcoming blockbuster.
Lenovo recently purchased the Motorola Mobility unit from Google for $2.91 billion. Lenovo, a Chinese company famous for its personal computers, and also LAPTOP Magazine awarded it second position in Best & Worst Laptop Brands of 2014. Lenovo is a well-respected name in the world of laptops and computers, and with Motorola, they want to make a mark in the world of smartphones as well.
As it is just a rumor, nothing is set on stone, but that doesn’t mean Motorola has nothing up their sleeves. Launching eight devices in a time period of just four months sounds a little bit unrealistic, but we can still expect Motorola to introduce at least 4-5 devices later this year. However, Motorola is remaining silent on this, but we really hope to hear from them on this matter.
