New York – Starting from today Nest Labs is bringing back the Protect through Google Play. The Protect, which was withdrawn from the market due to some technical issues, will now be available at various stores and Google Play.
Earlier, Nest introduced a new feature in the Protect that allowed users to pull off the alarm just by waving their hand beneath it. The feature didn’t perform well, and company was forced to withdraw it from the market. Nest labs offered their customers a full refund and asked them to mail it or drop it back at the nearest stores.
However, the come back of the Protect is not what it was previously, company made a compromise by cutting down the feature that puts off the alarm with appropriate gestures. Nest Labs’ spokesperson said that they are “still looking into a solution.”
The Google owned home automation company also cut down the price of the Protect from $119 to $99 and is offering features such as SMS alert in case of an emergency. The Protect, however, doesn’t make a call to the fire department, it does send an SMS alert to the owner.
The Protect also takes full advantage of the data collected by the Nest Labs for years. The company said that on an average there is a presence of carbon monoxide for less than 3 minutes to 24 hours or more in American homes. CO or Carbon Monoxide is odorless and colorless; it can severely affect the respiratory system, which can result in the death of a person. The Protect from Nest Labs offers such features that can warn users about the threat, it get connected with a smartphone and shows statistics about the percentage of CO in the air.
Nest Labs was took over by Google a few months ago for approximately $3 Billion.
