Facebook App for iOS update brings privacy control features and UI improvements

Stacking up with another version, Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) brings Facebook App version 8.0 for iOS devices. The big figure ‘8.0’ without any major changes, aims at improving the users’ experience with the app on the iPad. Focusing on the users’ privacy, this new app comes with options to limit audience for your post.

While it carries a number 8.0, the features introduced are not that enough. Features that have been discovered until now and are in the ‘What’s New in Version 8.0′ section of App store states that this new app will help users to limit their audience. The app also makes the sharing and viewing of posts with iPad easy.

Users will be having the ability to share pictures or albums with a limited set of people. Only those who have been chosen to share with, will see the updates posted by their friends.

The idea of limiting number of people viewing your updates is a very important feature of Snapchat, a photo messaging application app developed by Evan Spiegel and Robert Murphy. Facebook in past had tried making a bid on the Snapchat for $3 billion which was later rejected. The CEO denied to make a deal with Facebook.

Online privacy is definitely what everyone thinks about before sharing a post on the internet, WhatsApp which was acquired by Facebook with a deal of $19bn has also introduced number of features to protect its users’ privacy. The app now can protect your last seen, profile picture and status being seen by any other person. A user can choose it to be only for contacts, everyone or none.

While Facebook is doing a lot to protect its users’ privacy, its much of of ironical that the company itself is tracking users internet activity and selling information to other advertising companies. The company was also reported to be a part  NSA PRISM program.
