As promised, Google has now opened the doors for everyone willing to buy the new Google Glass for just 24 hours. Last week Google in a blog post announced to open the sale of Google Glass for anyone who is a resident of United States and is 18 years old.

Google last time in the blog post said, “Whoops. So… we’d planned to post this next week, but it looks like the cat’s out of the bag now. Over the past several months, we’ve been trying out different ways to expand the Explorer program. Some of you signed up at Google I/O, some told us what you would do #ifihadglass , some were referred by a friend, some joined through their school or university. Our Explorers are moms, bakers, surgeons, rockers, and each new Explorer has brought a new perspective that is making Glass better. But every day we get requests from those of you who haven’t found a way into the program yet, and we want your feedback too. So in typical Explorer Program fashion, we’re trying something new.”

The new form factor from Google is a head wearable running on Android OS. Google Glass out of the box is just like an Nexus 5 having no apps or Internet connectivity. All you can do is take pictures, record a 10 sec or longer video and to receive and make calls. Google Glass, when connected with an iOS and Android phone running My Glass app, provides a number of features a smartphone has.

The screen for the Glass looks like a 22-inch screen from a distance 8 feet and sitting right above the eye it does cover the vision of an individual. Glass is equipped with Google Now and so it can read and send texts. It is capable of visualizing the navigation and holds apps which can be selected by scrolling up-down or tapping the track pad.

Google has about 30,000 people around the world as Google Glass Explorer. Google used to invite people around the world to be a part of Google Glass Explorer, but this time the company has opened the doors for everyone willing to have this innovative head wear. Google Glass is being offered with different shades and frames, instead Google has partnered with a number of brands, including Ray Ban.
