Joe Francis is clearly not very wild over the decision of a jury in a Los Angeles courtroom. On Monday, the mastermind behind Girls Gone Wild was convicted of false imprisonment and assault by a jury.
Francis was involved in January 2011 in an incident with three females he had met at a club in Hollywood with whom he is alleged to have had a physical altercation with after he had taken the three back home with him.
The soft-porn entrepreneur who is 40 years of age was convicted on five different charges following a trial of two weeks. The jury found him guilty of false imprisonment on three counts, one of assault and one of trying to persuade a potential witness from testifying. He could be sentenced to five years behind bars.
Francis said he did not do anything wrong and that the jury, who he called mentally challenged, should be sent to jail, not him.
The incident took place in late January of 2011. The women had been celebrating a graduation from college at the Hollywood club when Francis is alleged to have approached the three. At one point, he is alleged to have taken one by her hand into his limo and was then followed by the others, reportedly thinking he would drive all three to their vehicle.
Instead, the four were given a ride to Francis’ home where a physical altercation is alleged to have taken place when Francis attempted to pull one of the three women away from her two friends.
Francis then threatened them if they decided to call the police. They called police immediately in the cab and the police met them back at their car.
