Pebble today announced to reduce the price of Pebble and Pebble Steel. It now has become a better alternative against the Apple Watch that is expected to launch sometime in the year 2015. Pebble now has reduced the prices to $99 and $199 for Pebble and Pebble Steel respectively. Introduced last year, Pebble has already raised more than $10.3 million in total and is keeping up to produce more state-of-the-art wearables. Without a doubt, the company has sold more than 400,000 smart watches since last year. However, as Pebble trying to compete with technology giant, Apple is expected to sell no less than 10 million Apple Watches after the launch.
On the flip side, Pebble has also updated the software that helps communicate in between the wearable and the smartphone. It now includes full activity tracking and sleep monitoring.
“The Misfit app for Pebble has been updated to enable continuous, roundtheclock activity tracking and sleep monitoring (thanks to Pebble’s classleading multiday battery life). Jawbone is launching its own activity tracking watchface for Pebble called Up. Swim.com is the first watch app that allows users to measure distance, pace, times, strokes, and efficiency while swimming with their Pebble and automatically sync this data with their phone and the cloud when returning to the locker room (this is where Pebble’s 5 ATM waterresistance comes in handy).”
