New York: Samsung Group at an event in the New York unveiled one of the most awaited Samsung Galaxy Tab S. The conference, which was held in the Madison Square Garden area, saw industry’s most advanced and slimmest tablet ever. JK Shin, CEO of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Division, said, ” we are setting the industry bar higher for the entire mobile industry.”
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S is even slimmer than the Apple iPad Air and houses a super AMOLED screen, which has not been seen in any of the tablets so far. Samsung claims that the S’s screen is so far the best company has ever put into a mobile device, and it is same as in the company’s monitors and TV sets.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S is coming in two variants this time, one with a 10.5 inches of screen while another with 8.4 inches of screen. Both the variants will house a powerful Exynos Octa core processor ( 1.9 GHz quad core + 1.3 GHz quad core ) for WiFi editions, where as Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (2.3GHz quad-core) for LTE models. Both the models have a 3 GB of RAM with 16 GB or 32 GB storage options. The S models also sports an 8 MP rear camera with 1.2 MP front camera.
Other than having a difference in the screen size, both the variants do have a distinct battery also. Tab S with 10.5″ houses a 7,900 mAh battery, where the other model with 8.5″ only has a battery of 4,900 mAh.
Design of the back panel for the both the models matches exactly with the design of the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone. Tab S 10.5″ weighs just under 470 gm while the other S with 8.5″ is just about 290 gm. Again both the models share the same thickness of 6.6 mm. The thickness certainly leads us in awarding these tablets with the title of “world’s thinnest tablets,” which previously was held by the Apple iPad Air.
