Rumors have swirled throughout the month of May about the much-anticipated iPhone 6S, whose release is expected later this year. Rumors about the device started in April, but the rumors in May have been far more credible. Obviously, nothing is confirmed just yet, but here are 10 things we think we know about the iPhone 6S.

NO WWDC 2015 LAUNCH

It would be great to see Apple talk about the iPhone 6S at WWDC, but that’s probably not happening. Apple will likely use WWDC to launch other products, so we probably won’t hear much about the iPhone 6S.

iOS 9 & LONGEVITY

Rumors about iOS 9 have been hand in hand with the iPhone 6S, as they are likely to hit the shelves at the same time. What this could mean is that iPhone 6S users will get software support for four years, and that’s a big deal.

iPHONE 6S RELEASE DATE

In May, we learned that we should be expecting a September release date for the iPhone 6S. Some of these rumors have been disputed, but Apple does like to utilize the September window, so there’s reason to think that will be when the iPhone 6S is available, even if there’s no exact date in place yet.

iPHONE 6S PLUS LIKELY

Rumors about the iPhone 6s point to a 4.7-inch iPhone 6S and a 5.5-inch iPhone 6S Plus. These are the same sizes used for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, so it makes sense.

4-INCH iPHONE 6S UNLIKELY

Pretty much all of the 4-inch iPhone 6S rumors have been debunked. Many Apple customers believe it would be nice to have it offered, but rumors suggesting a 4-inch iPhone 6S have been all but squashed.

SIMILAR DESIGN

All signs point to the iPhone 6S having a similar design to the iPhone 6. There will surely be a wide array of upgrades, but there’s no reason to expect the appearance to be any different.

iPHONE 6S DISPLAY & FORCE TOUCH

Rumors have all but confirmed two sizes for the iPhone 6S: 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. There are also strong rumors indicating that Force Touch technology will also be a feature on the iPhone 6S, which could take its display to the next level.

PERFORMANCE BOOST

The iOS 9 should have bug fixes and security enhancements, as well as a number of other benefits that should benefit the iPhone 6S, as there’s a good chance Apple will be swapping out processors.

iPHONE 6S CAMERA

There are multiple reports that the iPhone 6S camera will have a new 12MP sensor. This is an upgrade from 8MP sensor on the iPhone 6 Plus, and one that will give the iPhone 6S optical image stabilization.

GALAXY NOTE 5

One of the biggest rivals of the iPhone 6S has also started to make some noise in May. There are rumors that the Galaxy Note 5 may also be headed for a September release and offer features that could make it a legitimate competitor to the iPhone 6S.
