Spain – Many people will often eat Yoghurt in an effort to lose weight or improve bone strength. It had earlier been stated that eating yogurt daily came with improved health-related quality life. However, this has not been proven yet. A recent the study from the Autonomous University of Madrid has established that daily consumption of yogurt does not improve health in any way.
The extensive study was conducted in Spain and involved 4,445 Spanish adults over the age of 18 who were followed or approximately three and a half years. The routine yogurt consumption of the participants was observed while measuring the health-related quality life at the start and end of the study.
At the end of the study, it was found that yogurt intake played no role in someone quality of health. Clearly, there was no link between health quality life and daily consumption of yogurt. In any case, the health of people who eat yogurt daily was found to be similar to those who took one serving of yogurt on a weekly basis.
According to Esther Lopez-Garcia, the study lead, “future research requires specific instruments to help in increasing the probability of finding the potential benefit of this particular food.”
Yogurt is a product rich in calcium that is good for your bones. It can also help in fighting osteomuscular hence it is recommended in a balanced diet. In many countries, people are highly encouraged to consume dairy products such as yogurt. It has been said that it lowers the rate of cardiovascular diseases as well as blood pressure.
However, even with all these kind of conclusion, it is important to note that researchers only took into account the yogurt intake at the beginning of the study. There are chances that the level of yogurt consumption may have changed in the period afterward.
It is also important to take into account that the study did not track consumption of any other products that could have had an impact on the end results.
