US bombed ISIS in Syria and also targeted well-known terrorists group al-Qaeda on Monday night. The dangerous al-Qaeda group was rumoured to plan an imminent attack against the US and Western forces, the Pentagon (United States Department of Defence) said.
14 Strikes were launched by the US military in the fight against ISIS sites in Syria. “The strikes destroyed or damaged multiple ISIL targets… and included ISIL fighters, training compounds, headquarters and command and control facilities, storage facilities, a finance centre, supply trucks and armed vehicles,” the statement said.
Eight US air strikes are aimed at al-Qaeda made Khorasan Group. “The United States has also taken action to disrupt the imminent attack plotting against the United States and Western interests conducted by a network of seasoned Al-Qaeda veterans — sometimes referred to as the Khorasan Group — who have established a safe haven in Syria to develop external attacks, construct and test improvised explosive devices and recruit Westerners to conduct operations,” the statement said “. All aircraft safely exited the strike areas,” it added. Khorasan group has assisted al Qaeda in various operations against destinations including Syria, North Africa and Europe.
Five Arab nations including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates participated in the attack against Syria. Terrorist group that were planning attacks against Jordan were successfully bombed, Jordan Army said in a statement.
US military said that, including an attack on Monday, it has now conducted a total of 194 air strikes against Iraq and its neighbour countries, including Syria, and will continue the attacks as per the requirement, to protect US and Western forces and to erase the terrorism.
